General Yarn Information:

The Fibre Works Gallery carries a number of one of a kind specialty yarns as well as several standardized yarns that are designed to work with our patterns.   The specialty yarns are available in limited quantities and generally can not be reproduced.  We try to do the standard yarns every year but often the supply sells out before the next batch is spun up.   Even with the standard yarns, exact weight and colour matches between batches is not possible so please make sure that you order enough to complete your project.

Every effort is made to provide the highest quality products but please understand that handspun and custom milled yarn may have variations in twist, grist and ply that are not found in commercial yarns.  Our yarns are gently processed with no harsh chemicals.  As a result, we sometimes do have some bits of vegetation remaining in the yarns.

We do use micron measurement of fibre in our flock and herd but do not sample every animal every year.  Where possible, we provide an approximate micron classification based on the most recent data that we have.  Please note that we feel that the "hand" of a fibre or yarn is a better overall measure of quality.

You can obtain a sample of any of our yarns or rovings by sending us a request along with a self addressed envelope and a cheque or money order for $2.50.
